Privacy policy

By signing up to use Appreciation Jar (the "app"), you agree to the contents of this document.

Your data

All content you author within the app is yours and private from other people, except those that you have invited to join your jar.

Content guidelines

We have a strict policy against hate speech and other forms of abusive or discriminatory language. We reserve full right to remove any content that we feel violates this rule. We do not actively moderate content but may employ automated systems to determine if content is against the above guideline and then review it manually.

Data deletion

If you delete your account, we immediately delete everything you have authored in the app. The content is irrevocably deleted. Additionally, if you are the owner of a jar, we will also delete your jar and all messages inside it.

Privacy

Your content is stored on servers in the European Union. We store the data listed below.

  • 1. Your appreciations - The data you provide to us when posting an appreciation.
  • 2. Metadata - Metadata belonging to your appreciations and user account, such as:

    ✨ Date of when the appreciation was posted.
    ✨ The IP address associated with the message for the purposes of content moderation.
    ✨ A special unique user id that is required to deliver notifications to you.
  • 3. Analytics and crash reporting - If you accept the use of analytics and crash reporting during signup, we will receive anonymized crash reports from your device if Appreciation Jar crashes, for the purpose of fixing bugs. Your data is never transferred to any third parties.
  • All data is kept indefinitely for the purposes of providing the service. You can delete your data at any time.

Push notifications

If you enable push notifications, we create a registration with your browser and/or operating system vendor. While push notifications might be sent outside the EU (which we have no control over), they are encrypted and we do not include any personal data in these notifications.
